if you get confused and fuck up along the way
i'm terribly sorry... this is taking a lot of my time to show you so try again
PART 1: DOWNLOADING THE PHOTO EDITOR [IRFANVIEW]
[this is the program you may need if you don't already have your
own photo editor to resize images]
1. go HERE
if that doesn't work...go here
and if THAT doesnt work... go to download.com then type in irfanview in the search bar
it will come up and it is downloadable and please use your brains
2. click where u see

3. a button like this should pop up [be patient it may take a moment]

4. look on your computer desktop for this icon

double click it start the setup
5. click "next" 5 times
6. the little box will pop up completing your setup
7. "installation successfull" box shows. click done
8. you will then see your irfanview program pop up
PART 2: CHOOSING AND RESIZING YOUR IMAGES
1. you may now minimize your irfanview program but keep it open because you will need it shortly
2. you may place any friends on this. even if they aren't "really" on your top 8.
here is how... i did it...
3. go to your friends page
4. right click their default picture. or whatever picture you want of them
and click "copy image" [make sure the pictures of your friends are all approximately the same size
to avoid pictures coming out weird]
5. bring up irfanview again
6. click the clipboard

7. the image should show up
8. minimize irfanview
9. open a new irfanview window
10. repeat steps 3-8 repeatedly until you have all the images you want
11. now open up one of your images and take your mouse
and click the image and create a rectangle in the shape youd like it
please note that if you do it too wide your top 8 may not fit in a single row
as mine does.
12. now while the square is still showing click "edit" and "crop selection"
your friend should be a thin rectangle now
13. leave that box open so you can see it for an example when working with the future images
on how big they should be
14. open up another image. do the same click and drag to make their picture
as close to the exact size as the other one. if it isn't perfect. don't worry we can fix it later.
just try to be as exact as you can because the pictures may morph when you have to fix them.
15. do steps 11-14 repeatedly until all of your images are on your desktop as small rectangles.
16. now to make them all exactly the same size...
click on one of the irfanview windows and on your toolbar click "image" then "resize/resample"
17. now that you have a new little box open
look at where it says width: [number] height: [number]
write those numbers down somewhere so you dont forget them
because you will be making all of your pictures the same size as the first one
for example: if my image size was "width: 50 height:221" that is the size i will end
up making all the rest of my pictures
18. now save that picture by clicking "file" and then "save as"
19. its smart to make a folder called top 8 so you can keep them organized and maybe even
title them by the number in which the order you want your top 8 in
example: save images as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
20. now you may exit from the irfanview of the image you have just saved
21. next click on another image and as you did for the first one go to "image" then "resize/resample"
22. make sure the box underneath the height and width that says
"preserve aspect ratio" remains UNchecked... just like the image below

23. now make the numbers in your width and height the same numbers you wrote down
from the first image. then click "okay". if your image was almost the same as the other one
the picture should look almost the same as it originally was.
24. [optional] if your picture deforms too much
click the undo button
and crop out the rectangle again.25. then save it the same way you did in step 18
26. do steps 17-23 repeatedly until images are all saved and closed
STEP 3: NOW THE FUN PART... PUTTING IT ON YOUR MYSPACE :D
you should now have 8 pictures all the same size. skinny. tall. ready to go
[note: you can use less than 8 obviously]
this is the order in which i finished it off but do whatever is easiest for you
1. go to home and then to edit your profile.
2. i prefer mine at the bottom of my "id like to meet" so that it is in the top 8 area
3. in your about me place the following "code". this code is for a top 8.
4. what you will see is sections with a href="" and img src=""
5. if you did as instructed earlier you should be able to easily find them in the right order
because the images are labled by number
6. open a new window if you use explorer [or a new tab if you are on firefox]
7 go to tinypic.com, imageshack.us, or you can use a photobucket. [up to you. but i use tinypic.com]
8. upload picture number 1. and you should have something like this "http://i23.tinypic.com/14v5t09.jpg"
make sure it says .jpg .gif or .pnj at the end. just be sure it is an image file.
9. place that in the first spot on the code in between the "s where it says img src=""
10. continue doing this IN ORDER BY NUMBER until all img src=""s are full
11. now you should have a code full of image links and empty spots where it says a href=""
12. if you did this in order with your top 8 on your homepage you should easily be able to get
all of your friends urls in order according to the images you have put in the code
13. now in another new window or tab go to your myspace homepage
14. open your first friends page and get their url. it will be found at the top
of your browser

15. copy their url completely
16. go back to edit your profile and in the FIRST place where it says a href="" put their url between the "s
17. do this repeatedly until all of your urls are in. being sure they are placed in order is very important as
you dont want people clicking "mary's" face and being taken to "joanna's" page
NOTE: please make sure that there are NO spaces between the urls/images and the "'s or else your code will
fuck up and your page will look like you suck at life :]
18. cross your fingers. click save all changes. view your page!
FINAL NOTES:
if you become good at this you can make your pictures wider. or even squares.
just always be sure your image sizes match and when you put things in your page
that it all goes together. the images and the page urls.
to hide your original top 8: find the code here
i hope everyone who requested to learn how to do this was able to
thank you for all of your support and i hope you enjoy this gift
from me to you. have a sunny day! -Melissa
